TERPECA announces new ambassador for the UK

TERPECA New Ambassadors

So this piece of news is an exciting two-fer: It’s both about the UK escape industry, and also deeply personal to us here at The Escape Roomer.

We’re incredibly excited to be able to share the news that in a recent update on the official TERPECA Facebook page, the team announced not one but two new European ambassadors. From the update:

As we start ramping up for the upcoming award season, we are thrilled to announce the two newest members of our growing ambassador team, Mairi Nolan and Jonas Rasmussen!
Mairi is joining as a new dedicated ambassador for the United Kingdom. You may know Mairi from her role as the editor of the Escape Industry News or from her great reviews and articles on escape rooms at theescaperoomer.com. Jonas, who hails from Denmark, will be representing the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Jonas is among the most experienced enthusiasts from that region and is dedicated to building a more connected community for Nordic enthusiasts.

That’s right, I’m super proud to share that I (the editor of The Escape Roomer) will be the new dedicated UK ambassador for TERPECA. The other announced ambassador is the fantastic Jonas Rasmussen who will be representing the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden).

TERPECA New Ambassadors

Together, and with all the other ambassadors around the world, we’ll be helping recruit nominators and voters from our respectve regions, raise awareness of the project, and help process eligible rooms.

For anyone who doesn’t know what TERPECA is, it stands for the Top Escape Rooms Project Enthusiast Choice Awards. It’s an attempt to find the very best escape rooms in the world by leveraging experienced players. Every year, folks who have played 200 or more rooms can nominate new rooms, and folks who have played 100 or more can rank their favourites. Then, at the end of the year the new TERPECA Top 100 list will be published. Here is 2023, 2022, and 2021 for example.

In 2023, we had just two escape rooms in the UK in the top 100:

45. Mr. Copplestone’s Curiosity Shoppe at Escape Quest
93. Percy Pendleton’s Peculiar Predicament at Escape Quest

In 2022, we had

47. Mr. Copplestone’s Curiosity Shoppe at Escape Quest
96. Atlantis at The Escapement

And in 2021, which included online and remote games, the UK had –

3. The Keeper and the Fungus Among Us by Headlock Escape Rooms
5. Virtual Exorcist by Emergency Exit
6. The Beast by Emergency Exit
10. Immaterium at Escapologic

Hopefully in the next few years we’ll be able to see even more brilliant UK rooms in the list.

If you’ve played 100 or more escape rooms, you can sign up to be a voter at any time throughout the year. If you’ve played over 200, you can sign up as a nominator too.
