Edinburgh Treasure Hunts: Fantastic Creatures | Review

Mairi by Mairi December 1, 2022
The Department of Magic's "Prophecies Quest" escape room in Edinburgh is well worth visiting! The first, and most exciting thing about @scarlet.env 's tabletop puzzle game "Dinner with Anonymous" is that this is the first (but hopefully not the last) collaboration between them and another well known creator: Keith Dozois of @usb.escape … And it shows! You can see the metaphorical fingerprints of both creators all over this game. There’s the physical, tactile experience of Scarlet Envelope combined with the horror themes of USB escape, married together with fantastic audio visuals which I’ve come to expect from both. Hunt a Killer’s Whodonut was a delightful surprise that offered a lot of fun over a couple of days. They add their own unique twist to the “escape room jigsaw” genre and show off their strengths in creating a fun murder mystery that is also accessible to relative newbies to the genre. What do you get when you cross delicious chocolates, tricky puzzles, with a cow-theme? An @enigmailed Chocolateral bar that’s absolutely packed with a-moo-sing cow puns! As with all Chocolateral bars, there’s drama and mystery afoot here in SEA NO EVIL. This time, the peculiar case of a cage left overnight at the zoo and in it’s wake, not one but three missing monkeys. My mission was simple: Find the monkeys, find their stash of bananas, and find the name of the staff member who forgot to lock their cage the night before. Well, our first present is wrapped and waiting to be placed under the Christmas Tree.
