Your guide to all things escape room!
The Escape Roomer was founded in early 2020 with one goal in mind: to document and celebrate the incredible escape room industry here in the UK! Now we play every puzzle game we can get our hands on – tabletop games, board games, video games, immersive theatre and more! We endeavour to cover as many interesting games and experiences as we can!

Escape Rooms – North England
Hello! We are Al (for Alice, or Big Gay Al..) and Ash (for Aisling – surprsingly not pronounced Ass-ling haha!).
We are a couple of 26 year olds who have spent the last 4 years travelling around the UK to play as many Escape Rooms as possible. On the rare occasion we are not escaping in some form, we spend a lot of time running, eating cake and looking after our little cat – Tilly 😺
Expect reviews from all around the North of the UK (and Kent, as we have family there and for some wonderful reason it’s an escape room hub!).

Escape Rooms – London & Wales
Hello! I’m Georgie (she/her), a Welsh girl living in London! I grew up on puzzles and board games, so escape rooms was a natural progression! I’m also a major bookworm and baker, so I’m clearly living the Miss Marple lifestyle.
Even though I live in London, I’ll be covering off many rooms in Wales and Kent, as well as surrounding areas as I do like a day trip! I may also pop up for the occasional board game, book or meta article about the industry itself!

Hello, my name’s Karen and I’m an escape room addict. I’m also a born and bred Londoner, a redhead, a travel fan who likes to go off the beaten track, a theatre addict especially if it’s immersive, a baker, a knitter and an occasional mudlarker. I do like to keep myself busy. And when I’m not indulging in one of my hobbies, to pay the bills I watch TV for a living.

Hey I’m Mairi!
I’m 25, living in London and I identify as female (she/her pronouns please!). I have blue hair, drink way too much tea, and adore 80s music. I cover escape rooms and immersive theatre in London, play at home games, and video games.
Back in 2018 I played my first escape room and after escaping with 59:58 on the clock decided to myself “Right, I’m going to complete every escape room in the UK. Afterall, how many could there be?”. Turns out there are a LOT and I’m still at it but loving every second!

Escape Rooms – Kent & South
Hey you guys! I’m Nick, a 37 year old, single dad based in Maidstone, Kent, UK (this is my dating profile, right?!) with an enthusiasm for escape rooms like no other!
I have been reviewing for a number of years and pride myself on providing creative, yet honest posts! When playing physical escape rooms, I’m a sucker for immersion – if you can provide me with music, sound, lighting effects and realism the second I walk through the door, you’ll have me hooked! By no means would I say I’m an expert puzzle solver either; put me in a room and I will probably take the role of searcher and king communicator.

Escape Rooms – Scotland
Hello! I’m Rebecca (she/her), a geordie living in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. I love the outdoors, and am an avid runner, netballer, Geocacher and paddle board enthusiast. You’ll also find me sipping a cup of tea in a bookshop or curled under a blanket binging horror films.
I’ll be writing about my escape attempts from rooms around Scotland, as well as chatting about my latest board game discoveries, play-at-home escape rooms and puzzle books.

Hi, I’m Rick.
Although I spent most my life living in the south, I now reside in the amazing city of York. I spent over a decade writing about videogames before moving here, but I now enjoy console gaming, boardgames and puzzles at my own pace without multiple looming deadlines dampening my enjoyment.
I’ll hopefully be trying my hand at a bit of everything, so you can expect to find me writing borderline-entertaining copy covering all elements of the gaming and puzzle world.

Video Games
Hi I’m Russ from RussBuilds; an independent escape game designer.
I have created a total of 4 escape games, 3 of which were avatar-based and playable over zoom during the lockdown periods. If you want more information on them, here are reviews for ENDGAME, AIRLOCK and CITIZEN.
Currently I am working on escape game number 5, that will be non-avatar based and playable at anytime. I’m using Unreal Engine 4 to build this one and hoping to release it during Winter 2021.
